Sol Meliá opens first hotels in Colombia
The Spanish Sol Meliá hotel chain will start operations in Colombia
by opening two new hotels: both properties will in part
be operated as condo hotels under the "Meliá" brand. The 5-star
Meliá Cartagena in the tourist hotspot Cartagena de Indias will
have 268 rooms, Spa & Wellness facilities, various restaurants,
event-staging rooms, an exclusive "The Level" area, shopping
center, and a 1,000-sqm casino. The Meliá Barranquilla in the
Caribbean seaport town of Barranquilla has 253 rooms and a
large-sized convention center for up to 1,000 persons.
Hyatt in Oubaai Golf Resort“
This last December, the Hyatt Hotels Corporation enlarged its
South African portfolio by opening the Hyatt Regency Oubaai
Golf Resort and Spa. The hotel is part of the exclusive, 263hectare
Oubaai Golf Resort and holds 100 rooms available for its
guests. Its event and function area has a size of 1,200 square
meters and encompasses a large ballroom, four conference
rooms, and a boardroom, all available for various kinds of
events. The meeting facilities meet state-of-the-art technical
standards and also feature Wi-Fi access.
“Europe’s Leading Business Hotel”
At the end of last year, the Mövenpick Hotel Istanbul received
one of the most prestigious world travel awards throughout the
entire tourism industry: the "Europe’s Leading Business Hotel
Award. This prize is based on votes by more than 180,000
tourism experts from all over the world and comes in recognition

of 35 sqms. Twelve meeting rooms for between ten and 350
participants are available for events of all kinds.
New Marriott in Mumbai
The Mumbai Marriott Hotel Kurla (300 rooms) will be added to
Marriott International’s Indian portfolio in late 2012. The hotel
will be part of a mixed-use development in a central suburb in
North Mumbai. Its spacious rooms feature large baths with
separate shower and tub, luxurious beds, Internet access,
high-quality flatscreen TVs as well as safe and minibar. The
1,000-sqm meeting and event area encompasses a 660-sqm
tri-partitionable ballroom, a 100-sqm bi-partitionable conference
room as well as 240 square meters of multi-function
space
New addition to Jumeirah portfolio
The international luxury hotel group Jumeirah seated in Dubai
will take over management of a luxury hotel in the Chinese city
of Hangzhou, a tourism hub in the Yangtze Delta. An agreement
to that effect was signed in Hangzhou by Gerald Lawless (see
picture), Chief Executive of the Jumeirah Group, and Su Weng,
President of GT Land Holdings Limited. The 5-star Jumeirah
Hangzhou Hotel with 250 rooms will be built in a prime location
in the Qianjian River New Town business district. Various restaurants
and bars, a banquet and conference center as well as a
variety of nearby shopping facilities round out the offer. Opening
is scheduled for late 2013.
Regal Master Hotel now open
Doors to the Regal Master Hotel have been officially opened in
downtown Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan province in China.
The 32-story hotel holds available 350 spacious and luxuriously
appointed suites and rooms, the latter with an average size of
53 sqms. With its Business Center and nine rooms for conferences
and banquets including the 550-sqm ballroom, the Regal
Master Hotel ranks among Chengdu’s leading meeting hotels.
