Juchul Kim
South Korea
A few years ago, Juchul Kim became fascinated with bridges and began to wonder about their function. She started to see the bridge in terms of its
history, its cultural exchanges and as a means of communication.
In the October of 2011, Juchul Kim spent time in Europe and New York and it was during these visits that she observed many more bridges. She saw
them immersed in the landscape, directing the focus of her work and linking all the essential elements. When she paints bridges, she is reminded of
Simon and Garfunkel`s song, “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Now, sensing the arduous journey of life in the 21 century passing below a bridge, she
is inspired to try to paint a picture of it.
