Maria Lucia Veiga<br />
Maria Lucia Veiga, 66 years old, was born in Rio de Janeiro.<br />
She achieved her Batchelor’s Degree in Literature at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Brasilia where she later went on to gain a Master’s in Literary Theory.<br />
She attended <strong>the</strong> painting studio <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Lourenço de Bem, in Brasilia between 2003 and 2004 and <strong>the</strong>n, from 2005 and 2006, she studied at<br />
<strong>the</strong> Atelier “<strong>Art</strong>e Ilimitada” in Portugal under <strong>the</strong> guidance <strong>of</strong> Manuel Vilarinho.<br />
During 2005 and later, in 2010, Maria took part in several collective exhibitions in Brazil and Portugal and also held a solo show in Portugal.<br />
Her 2005 painting entitled “Sapo”, won an award at <strong>the</strong> “Proyecto Cultural Sur” in Brasilia.<br />
Nowadays, her major challenge is to try to convey a questioning naivety by pasting children’s drawings onto her paintings leaving us to consider <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
place within <strong>the</strong> art world.<br />
