Paulo Themudo is a sensitive artist and man of culture. Everything within
him is intuitive, balanced and courteous. Paulo is able, without straying
from the technical excellence and elegant, aesthetic experience of his
work, to focus intensely on the message he wants to deliver. He is an
artist who treads his own path, fully aware of the purpose of proclaiming
and affirming, being and expressing, experiencing and fulfilling that
which he really feels.
This artist, notwithstanding some affiliation with abstract expressionism,
doesn’t seek to mimic or follow the art of others, but rather, through the
exploration of his memories, he is able to show us a whole new universe
peculiar to him.
To talk about the public Paulo Themudo, is to speak of a creator aware of
the winds of change, never ceasing to surprise us by bringing innovation
to a world weary of marking time on a road seemingly without refuge.
We could never deny this painter and poet the uniqueness of his creative
effort. It could be argued, in a sloppy review of his work, that the very
nature of his individualism, allied with his character, is an encumbrance
to his objectiveness. However, a proper assessment of the painting of
Paulo Themudo, shows us that he is able to present to us the reality
of the present-day, without judgment and without compulsive and
exaggerated fears and expectations.
Throughout all his artistic outpourings, in both writing and painting, Paulo
Themudo transmits a message of revolution, alerting the viewer to a
tired and outdated existence that desperately needs to be deconstructed
and rebuilt based on revised expectations.
