Vasco Torres studied aes<strong>the</strong>tics and contemporary arts at <strong>the</strong> Fundação<br />
Calouste Gulbenkian, <strong>the</strong> Centro Cultural de Belém and at <strong>the</strong> Sociedade<br />
Nacional de Belas <strong>Art</strong>es in Lisbon, Portugal. He has undertaken several<br />
<strong>the</strong>oretical and intensive courses with respected teachers such as<br />
Margarida Calado and Cristina Azevedo Tavares <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculdade de<br />
Belas <strong>Art</strong>es, Lisbon. In 1999 he participated in several painting sessions<br />
with <strong>the</strong> painter António Inverno. In 2006/07, Vasco Torres graduated<br />
from <strong>the</strong> Portuguese Catholic University <strong>of</strong> Oporto in contemporary art<br />
history and completed his masters <strong>the</strong>re during 2007/ 2009. He attended<br />
a course <strong>of</strong> etching and aquatint under Joana Latka at <strong>the</strong> Faculdade de<br />
Belas <strong>Art</strong>es <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Universidade de Lisboa. Since 1989 Vasco has partaken<br />
in several collective and individual exhibitions throughout Portugal. He<br />
is also represented in art publications including books edited by Ernesto<br />
Neves <strong>of</strong> First Gallery, Fernando Infante do Carmo and by Jean Pierre<br />
Blanchon.<br />
