1013. CANDIDATES SELECTED FOR TRAINING. The district director’s<br />

responsibility does not end with the approval of an applicant. The<br />

ultimate goal is to see that all qualified candidates attend training<br />

and are subsequently appointed to commissioned grade. To achieve this<br />

goal, districts will have a program to monitor those candidates in<br />

their areas to ensure continued motivation for <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> service.<br />

1014. "ON-CAMPUS" MARINE CORPS OFFICER SELECTION LIAISON OFFICERS<br />

1. Duties. Reserve officers and retired Reserve officers selected<br />

for this duty will function as resident officer selection representatives.<br />

They will aid the appropriate OSO by providing the following:<br />

a. Prospects/referrals.<br />

b. Information on <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> officer candidates programs to<br />

interested students.<br />

c. Assistance to the OSO in counseling and motivating candidates.<br />

d. Liaison, as necessary, between the OSO and appropriate school<br />

officials.<br />

2. Nomination and Assignment of "On-Campus" Liaison Officer<br />

a. After determining the location of eligible Reserve officers at<br />

colleges or universities under their cognizance, district directors<br />

will request nominations from the institutions concerned (figure 1-2).<br />

b. District directors will determine which of those officers<br />

nominated would accept nonpay appropriate duty orders for the assignment<br />

(figure 1-3). Duty performed may be credited for retirement<br />

purposes <strong>MCO</strong> P1001R.1F, <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Reserve Administrative Management<br />

Manual, chapter 6, and also credited for promotion eligibility under<br />

the provisions of Title 10, U.S. Code. Retired officers of the MCR<br />

may not be credited with retirement or promotion credits.<br />

c. Officers who are selected and desire this assignment. Copies<br />

will be furnished to the appropriate recruiting station and the CMC<br />

(MRRO). District directors will furnish the Director, MCR ...<br />

(1) Name, grade, social security number (SSN) and MOS.<br />

(2) Address.<br />

(3) Designation of the cognizant OSO for which the officer<br />

will perform appropriate duty.<br />

(4) Name of college or university where the officer will perform<br />

appropriate duty.<br />

d. Upon receiving information from district directors on<br />

Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) officers who are selected and desire<br />

this assignment, the Director, <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Reserve Support Center,<br />

will issue appropriate duty orders (figure 1-5). Copies of the orders<br />

will be forwarded to the CMC (MRRO), OSO’s and district directors<br />

concerned.<br />

e. Many schools may warrant assignment of more than one officer<br />

to this duty to ensure maximum coverage of all components of the<br />

institution. Should more than one liaison officer be assigned, the<br />

senior officer will coordinate their activities.<br />

f. In those institutions having an NROTC Unit, the Matine Officer<br />

Instructor will be requested to nominate qualified faculty members<br />

desiring this duty to the district director concerned, via the<br />

respective Professor of Naval Science. Further, the activities of the<br />

liaison officer will be coordinated by the <strong>Marine</strong> Officer Instructor<br />

through their Professor of Naval Science.<br />
