3. Training Requirements<br />

a. Course of Instruction. Members of the PLC Program enrolled as<br />

college freshmen or sophomores will attend two summer training sessions<br />

(Junior Course and Senior Course), each of which will be approximately<br />

6-weeks duration. Members enrolled during or after the junior year of<br />

college will attend a single 10-week session (Combined Course).<br />

Members enrolled in the PLC-Law Program who are not interprogram transfers<br />

will attend one 10-week training session. Training will be<br />

conducted at Officer Candidates School, <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Combat Development<br />

Command (MCCDC), Quantico, Virginia, on dates prescribed by the CMC.<br />

b. Attendance at Training<br />

(1) Members of the PLC Program enrolled as freshmen or<br />

sophomores must complete the Junior Course the first summer after<br />

enrollment, and the Senior Course during the summer immediately preceding<br />

the school year in which they receive their degree.<br />

(2) Members must agree to participate in training for a minimum<br />

period of time as specified in their service agreement.<br />

c. Orders to Attend Training. Members of the PLC Program ordered<br />

to training will travel by the conveyance directed in their orders.<br />

Members will be ordered to, training from home address or school<br />

address only, as requested by the individual concerned. Upon release<br />

from training, they will be directed to their home or school address as<br />

indicated on their request for orders. <strong>MCO</strong> P4600.7 will be utilized by<br />

OSO’s in determining group or individual transportation of PLC candidates<br />

to training. PLC’s are not authorized travel by POV. If a PLC<br />

is to be courtesy shipped, the cognizant OSO is responsible for<br />

ensuring that liaison is established with the OSO who will actually<br />

ship candidate to training.<br />

d. Participation in Selected <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Reserve (SMCR) Training.<br />

Members of the PLC Program, at their option, may continue drill with<br />

their Reserve unit and remain in a paid status. In the case of mobilization<br />

by the Reserves, the member would deploy with Reserve unit.<br />

4. Active Duty Requirements (Figure 2-37)<br />

a. PLC (Ground). Graduates of the PLC(G) Program must serve on<br />

EAD in a commissioned status for the period specified by their service<br />

agreement plus any additional obligation incurred by receipt of <strong>Marine</strong><br />

<strong>Corps</strong> Financial Assistance. Upon acceptance of appointment to commissioned<br />

grade, these officers will be ordered to EAD to attend The Basic<br />

School (TBS), MCCDC, Quantico, Virginia. When these officers have completed<br />

TBS, they will be assigned a basic MOS and ordered to an appropriate<br />

duty assignment.<br />

b. PLC (Naval Aviator). Graduates of the PLC(NA) Program must<br />

serve on EAD in a commissioned status for the period specified by their<br />

service agreement plus any additional obligation incurred by receipt of<br />

<strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Financial Assistance. Upon acceptance of appointment to<br />

commissioned grade, these officers will be ordered to EAD to attend TBS<br />

prior to assignment to aviation training.<br />

(1) In the event an officer is separated from an aviation<br />

training program as a result of flight failure, practical work failure,<br />

or physical disqualification, the officer will be required to serve on<br />

EAD in a commissioned status for the period specified by the service<br />

agreement, from the date initially assigned to EAD as a commissioned<br />

officer, plus any additional obligation incurred by receipt of <strong>Marine</strong><br />

<strong>Corps</strong> Financial Assistance.<br />

(2) Should the officer be separated from an aviation training<br />

program as a result of academic failure, or at own request, the officer<br />

will be required to serve on active duty in a commissioned status for<br />

the specified on the service agreement, the date initially assigned to<br />

EAD, plus an extension of active service equal to the time spent in<br />

flight training and any additional obligation incurred by receipt of<br />

<strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Corps</strong> Financial Assistance.<br />
