3. NEEM AS A NON-SYNTHETIC PESTICIDE
The responses to the questions concerning the use of neem as a pesticide are shown in the
following diagrams. Again no comparisons with absolute figures can be made; the results
merely show whether the criteria being researched apply or not (cf. Chapter 2.3).
Question: What form of usage does neem take as a pesticide?

More than 2/3 of all respondents named raw material usage, i.e. home-made insecticides, as
the predominant form of application in their country/region. Since more than one response
was permissible, it became apparent that in some countries where neem has been used as a
pesticide for some time, both raw materials and also commercial pesticides based on neem
are used. The best example of this is India where virtually all possible forms of usage are
employed.
