Priority Area: Reduce Exposure to Secondhand Smoke (2)<br />
Reduce Exposure to Secondhand Smoke Enforcement/Compliance Indicators (.1)<br />
Definition: These community indicators address enforcement and/or compliance <strong>of</strong> policies intended to reduce or control exposure to second<br />
hand smoke in indoor and outdoor settings. In the following indicators, “enforcement agencies” means those agencies that are<br />
designated by law or by a governmental agency with the authority to enforce policies, laws, and regulations. In the following<br />
indicators, multi-unit housing means those dwellings containing two or more housing units, including, but not limited to, market rate<br />
rental housing, condominiums, town homes, subsidized and affordable public housing, and single residency occupancy hotels.<br />
Community Indicator Sample Objective<br />
• By June 30, 2008, at least 85% <strong>of</strong> 100 businesses in Korean<br />
Town, will demonstrate and maintain compliance with Labor<br />
Code §6404.5 as determined by an annual observational survey.<br />
• By July 2, 2008, a minimum <strong>of</strong> four private transport drivers<br />
(Raiteros), bus transports or labor contractors in Valley County<br />
will enforce no smoking in their transport vehicles.<br />
• By June 30, 2010, the number <strong>of</strong> fines issued in Rural County for<br />
violations <strong>of</strong> indoor smoke-free policies among companies<br />
employing individuals engaging in manual laborer duties will<br />
decrease by 50% compared to a baseline number to be<br />
determined by spring <strong>of</strong> 2008.<br />
