Social Capital Assets (2)<br />
Definition: The Social Capital Assets reflect the extent people and organizations work collaboratively in an atmosphere <strong>of</strong> trust to accomplish<br />
goals <strong>of</strong> mutual benefit.<br />
Community Indicator Sample Objective<br />
• By May 30, 2008, annually conduct a two day youth tobacco advocacy and leadership<br />
training for a minimum <strong>of</strong> 30 youth ages 14 to 17 years old in Young County.<br />
• By May 30, 2008, a minimum <strong>of</strong> 15 adult coalition members will annually participate in<br />
at least two trainings, related to objectives in the scope <strong>of</strong> work, that address issues such as<br />
establishing smoke-free residential housing, public fund divestment, outdoor tobacco smoke,<br />
and point-<strong>of</strong>-sale tobacco advertising.<br />
2.1 Number <strong>of</strong> tobacco control advocacy<br />

• By May 30, 2008, an annual assessment <strong>of</strong> coalition satisfaction will be conducted and<br />
80% or more <strong>of</strong> the members will indicate that they are satisfied to very satisfied with<br />
program planning, involvement <strong>of</strong> the community, implementation, quality <strong>of</strong> services and<br />
progress made by the coalition.<br />

• By October 30, 2007, the Board <strong>of</strong> Supervisors will designate a person with tobacco control<br />
expertise to be a member <strong>of</strong> the Prop. 10 Commission.<br />
• By July 2009, obtain written support or pledges for tobacco taxes, with earmarking for<br />
tobacco control and health care services, from at least two political causes within the County<br />
as a result <strong>of</strong> local legislative information and educational visits with the Black, Latino, LGBT,<br />
Asian, and American Indian Caucus members to increase awareness <strong>of</strong> how tobacco has<br />
negatively affected the health and economics <strong>of</strong> their constituency.<br />
• By June 30, 2010, a team <strong>of</strong> at least five non-county employees will participate annually in<br />
legislative education days at the state and district levels.<br />
