(Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
Executive
The Music Journey
This month, we meet “Ajarn” Trirat
Uptampohtiwat, founder of the Trirat
Foundation, a social enterprise
in the Right View Social Enterprise family.
“Ajarn” is a Thai honorific given to those
renowned for their expertise and experience –
an honor even more solidified by inventing
the 1 to 5 piano learning technique. The 1
to 5 brain exercise helps both sides of your
brain work together, leading to happiness,
fun and lots of laughter.
The special learning method uses
numbers instead of music notes, making
the process even more enjoyable. No prior
music knowledge is needed, and thanks to
its ease, it is a great exercise for both your
brain and fingers.
Moving your fingers in a coordinated
way is one of the best ways to exercise your
brain. It is a type of neuron exercise, which
trains the part of brain that gives orders. In
addition to the 1 to 5 technique, students
also take advantage of the Mozart Effect of
this educational activity.
The Mozart Effect is as much a brain
exercise as it is musical, and it is based on
the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Exercises help with aiming, bending ones’
fingers, keeping them bent while breathing,
vocalizing, and verbalizing descriptions
means there is more to it than just listening
to Mozart, even though only the fingers
directly create music.
This is how the technique works : Hold
both hands up, focusing on each fingertip.
With each finger assigned a number
(i.e. the thumb is 1, the index is 2, and so
on until the pinkie at 5), when the teacher
holds up a number, you bend that finger
accordingly. Each bent finger is held for
a full breath before it is released, and each
exhalation is used to produce vocals.
This fun and relaxing exercise is a great
way to reduce work stress and prevent
Alzheimer’s. For working age adults, it also
boosts their ability to work in a systematic
way. For young children, it helps to develop
the executive functions (decision-making
ability) of their brains.
firsthand as well as other interesting
courses, visit Regent House, 1 Fl,
