According to rank we have the following active membership: Active 409 Associate 214 Retired 404 ¯ Life 25 Vendor 66 Total Membership of 1,118 members. During the past year, the following members joined: Connecticut 8 Maine 3 Massachusetts 19 New Hampshire 2 Rhode Island 12 Vermont 3 Retired 27 Life 0 This year we had a total of 48 new members, down from 166 from last year. The economy has hit all ofus, with many chiefs retiring this year. Let’s all try to welcome their replacements into the Association. The Association lost by death 12 members. We terminated 57 for non-payment of dues and 31 for returned correspondence with no deliverable address. And 142 at this date have not paid the dues for this date. All members removed for non-payment of dues were notified three times and were then removed from the rolls in accordance with Article V, Section II of the Association by-laws. All members applying for Honorary Life Membership and meeting the by-laws of the Association were admitted. Much time was spent over the past year preparing for our change to a larger convention center. Preregistration for our Annual Conference has proven to be a great time saver and a speedy process, allowing for more time to be spent at the exhibits. A new Red Book contract was signed by the Secretary- Treasurer, giving us an annual payment of $15,000 for a contract total of $45,000. In addition, our Monday night entertainment is paid for by the bidder of the contract. 39
