PRESIDENT MANSFIELD: I need the motion passed that
was just made by Chief Winslow on the postponement and I
believe it has to be on’behalf of the Board of Directors. I would
read it.
"I hereby move that the Association postpone indefinitely
the proposed by-law changes made by Carl and seconded by
John Flaherty."
Any discussion on the motion? Chief.
CHIEF RONALD M. LIMA: [Windsor, VT] Why the postponement?
CHIEF WINSLOW: At this time it is felt by the Board of
Directors that they would like to propose next year a more
in-depth revision of the by-laws. It’s been suggested by a
number of the members that there are other sections of the
by-laws that need to be updated and rather than do it piecemeal,
to do it all at once. That is the reason the Board is
recommending a postponement at this time.
RETIRED CHIEF GERARD A. CARLE: [Dracut, MA] If I
heard right, you said with the Board’s recommendation. Other
than the by-laws committee; is that. right?
CHIEF WINSLOW: Yes.
RETIRED CHIEF CARLE: Thank you.
PRESIDENT MANSFIELD: Any other discussion on the
motion?
If not, all in favor of the motion to postpone signify by saying
aye.

The next order of business will be to set the salary of the
Treasurer for the year.
RETIRED CHIEF GERARD A. CARLE: [Dracut, MA] Mr.
President, may we have a recommendation from the Board?
CHIEF CARL H. WINSLOW: [Yarmouth, ME] Mr. President,
on behalf ofthe Board of Directors, I move that the salary
of the Treasurer for the ’92-93 year be set at $3500.
CHIEF HARUBIN: [Wareham] Second.
PRESIDENT MANSFIELD: That was a suggestion, not a
motion by Chief Winslow.
