Service Committee for the past six months and we have been
revising the reading material for the present captains’ exams
that has been completed and next next week the chief office
exams will be completed. For those of you who are interested
there is a handbook that is out the window.
I’m also a past Secretary of the Hingham Firefighters Association
and a past Treasurer for the Hingham firefighters local.
Before becoming Chief four years ago, I had my own small
business and am computer-orientated. I’ve been working with
computers for the past seven years.
I have a commitment from my wife and children and from the
Board of Selectmen of my town to pursue this endeavor. I expect
to be a chief for the next five to 10 years. I ask for your support
and I thank you very much.

PRESIDENT MANSFIELD: We will hear a word from Chief
Wrobel.
CHIEF PETER J. WROBEL: [West Brookfield, MA] I’m
Peter Wrobel from West Brookfield. I’ve been a fireman for 30
years. We have a call department. I work about eight to 10 hours
a week on Fire Department business. I’ve been Chief for 13
years with hopes for another eight years. I’ve been Secretary-
Treasurer of our local rescue squad for the last five years. I’m
the Treasurer of the Worcester area fire chiefs for the last eight
years. I’m Treasurer with the Sportsmen Club for 18 years. I’ve
belonged to the Mass. Fire Chiefs for 13 years and the New
England Association here for 12 years, and belong to New
England Division.
I do have some computer experience and I have my own PC at
home. I have worked for the Sherman Oil Company as a serviceman
for 26 years and taking an early retirement.
I wanted to run for office in both this organization and the
Mass. Fire Chiefs, but due to the time constraints ofmy regular
job I didn’t feel I could go ahead and give the time to the job that
was necessary. I feel that with the job description that was
given, it says 20 hours a week to be used are necessary for the
Secretary-Treasurer’s job and I feel that~ anybody that had a
commitment to his job otherwise just won’t have that kind of
time to put into working in the position for this organization. I
feel if there is any extra time needed I’ll be able to give it and
this will be actually my job from retirement. Thank you.
