and having one catastrophe like that can wipe us out because
your fixed cost is still there. If the attendees are down the
exhibitors have to keep their trucks outside ands nobody is
looking at them. It can be disastrous.
So by hitting the targets and setting the goals that I did five
years ago and getting to ~he Civic Center, everything is going to
be inside. It’s going to be a monumental amount of work. Let’s
work big time. .
So right now after talkin~ to vendors and meeting them,
we’re now up and running. It’s on its way and nothing is going
to stop us now. My goal has always been the New England
Chiefs Convention with six states to be with New York as one
also to be premier and the quality to the New York show and we
have accomplished that.
One last thing we have. We have decided and we have upped
the Conference one week as we did with this. We moved this
Conference up because the 4th of J~uly would have conflicted
with our Conference if we had it next weekend. Marlboro and
Springfield have those dates open so we have voted to move our
dates up one week. We will now always follow the New York
show. New York gets out Tuesday and Wednesday. The vendors
and 17 pieces of apparatus outside because they got out of New
York and they drive down here and the vendors are very
pleased with that. What you see now, you have manufacturers
here instead ofjust vendors and the manufacturers are coming
direct.
The New England Chiefs Association is now something to be
reckoned with and all should be proud of those accomplishments
and be proud of that. Thank you.

CHIEF CHARLES MAURAIS: [Marblehead, MA] As chairman
of the Exhibit Committee what I’d like to say --
PRESIDENT MANSFIELD: Come up to the mike. Before he
says it, a couple of exhibitors from the Exhibitors Association
told me last week when we got here that I think we rank twelfth
in the United States of fire exhibit shows that there are around
now and this orientation here. That’s a long way we’ve come.
CHIEF MAURAIS: I don’t have a lot to say. I’ve worked hard
with a lot of the vendors the past few years to build this up. I
think when I took over, approximately the mailing list was just
120 names and it’s up over 300 vendors that I mail out. I think I
