UNDERCARRIAGE / Center JointDisassemble Center Joint• Be sure to read “Precautions for Disassembly andAssembly” thoroughly on page W1-1-1 beforestarting the disassembly work.CAUTION: Center joint weight: 31kg (68 lb)IMPORTANT: Take care not to damage to the endof spindle (2) when set it onto a workbench.1. Remove mounting bolts (12) (2 used) from cover(11) diagonally. Install eyebolt (M10, pitch 1.5,length 18 mm (0.7 in) to the bolt holes (2 places).Hoist the center joint and set it onto a work bench.IMPORTANT: Take care not to damage the slidingsurface of the spindle (2) seal.5. Insert ST 1020 to remove spindle (2) from body(7).IMPORTANT: For easy removal, two pins can beused to pry out oil seals (6). Takecare not to damage the seal groovewith the pins.IMPORTANT: Make a matching mark on body (7)and spindle (2).2. Remove bolts (12) (2 used) and eyebolts to removecover (11) from body (7).: 17 mm3. Remove O-ring (9), retaining ring (10) and ring (8)from body (7).4. Attach the special tool (ST 1033, ST1020) to body(7) with bolts (12) (2 used) on cover (11).: 17 mmW105-03-03-0156. Remove oil seals (6) (8 used), dust seal (3) andO-ring (4) from body (7).ST 1020ST 1033IMPORTANT: While welding, be sure to cover theseal surface to prevent it from beingspattered.7. When replacing bushing (5), build-up weld at 4places in its inner diameter with welding rod,shrink bushing (5) to pull it out.W506-03-03-002W3-3-5
