dos <strong>de</strong>vant le bar, en plan américain.<br />
DAVID I‘ll have a double anything.<br />
NICK Great.<br />
JULIAN No, I have—I have an ulcer.<br />
NICK Venus, a double whisky.<br />
OLIVE Make it two, Venus.<br />
VENUS (off) Do you want the blue stuff or the green?<br />
Venus entre dans le champ par la droite, passe <strong>de</strong>vant Olive.<br />
OLIVE The imported, dummy!<br />
VENUS Oh, you mean from the clean bath tub.<br />
Venus se r<strong>et</strong>ourne <strong>et</strong> sort du champ par la droite. Olive se r<strong>et</strong>ourne, revient <strong>à</strong> gauche en<br />
passant <strong>de</strong>vant Venus qui sort. Olive passe <strong>de</strong> profil au premier plan, essayant d’allumer une<br />
cigar<strong>et</strong>te.<br />
OLIVE (<strong>à</strong> Nick) Hum, hum.<br />
Olive reprend sa place <strong>de</strong> dé<strong>part</strong>, en plan américain, <strong>de</strong>bout <strong>de</strong>vant le canapé, <strong>à</strong> gauche <strong>de</strong><br />
l’image, <strong>de</strong> profil en face <strong>à</strong> Julian. Elle cherche <strong>à</strong> allumer sa cigar<strong>et</strong>te, n’y parvient pas.<br />
JULIAN So you‘ve never… acted before?<br />
OLIVE (<strong>à</strong> Nick) Honey? Honey?<br />
Elle tend sa cigar<strong>et</strong>te <strong>à</strong> Nick pour qu’il l’allume.<br />
(A Julian) Yes, I have acted, I have acted a lot, I was in a musical review—<br />
(A Nick) Can you light this for me?<br />
(A Julian <strong>et</strong> David) Jeez… no manners, no gentleman!<br />
Il parvient enfin <strong>à</strong> allumer la cigar<strong>et</strong>te.<br />

Olive s’assied sur le canapé, David vient s’asseoir <strong>de</strong> dos au premier plan, Julian s’assied au<br />
second <strong>à</strong> droite.<br />
OLIVE One thing I was won<strong>de</strong>ring is who‘s going to play the <strong>part</strong> of Sylvia Poston.<br />
JULIAN Oh, ah, only Helen Sinclair.<br />
OLIVE Helen Sinclair? Ah, never heard of her.<br />
On voit les épaules <strong>de</strong> David frémir, on <strong>de</strong>vine qu’il soupire.<br />
JULIAN Do you follow the theatre?<br />
OLIVE What are you trying to insinuate?<br />
NICK (off) Hey, don‘t give me that shit!<br />
Les visages se tournent vers la droite, vers Nick qui crie hors champ. La caméra cadre David<br />
en plan rapproché, qui baisse la tête vers la droite, hausse les sourcils.<br />
You tell him that if he isn‘t going to play ball, I come down and I cut his fucking legs off!<br />
David passe un doigt sous son col, s’agite sur son siège.<br />
OLIVE Hihihihi... Don‘t you pay any attention to him, he‘s in one of his <strong>de</strong>pressed moods.<br />
