PREREQUISITES:<br />

Students enrolled in ABIC must be military (E6/E5P) or above, active/reserve/NGB or DA<br />

civilians/contractors assigned as training/education instructors, developers, training managers,<br />

writers, and DA Career Program 32 personnel.<br />

COURSE SCOPE:<br />

ABIC prepares instructors to deliver battle-focused training/education in The <strong>Army</strong> School System<br />

(TASS) and consists of planning, preparing, and presenting <strong>Army</strong> training/education. The basic<br />

method for <strong>Army</strong> instructors is previewing and presenting the task, practicing the task, and<br />

performing the task to standard during evaluation. This method is enhanced during the course by<br />

applying a variety of presentation and practice methods and training techniques. The course<br />

also addresses how instructors motivate Soldiers and solve Soldier performance problems using<br />

positive reinforcement, on-the-spot corrections, and Soldier counseling. ABIC is designed for<br />

delivery in the traditional classroom setting or via video teletraining. Specific topics include: The<br />

Role of the Instructor in the Contemporary Operating Environment, <strong>Army</strong> Training and Education<br />

Development Overview, Prepare to Deliver Instruction, Methods for Evaluating Instruction, and<br />

Deliver Instruction.<br />

SPECIAL INFORMATION:<br />

ABIC version 2.1 is a TATS course therefore this POI will be used for all components<br />

(AC/RC/NGB). The Course Management Plan (CMP) provides a notional schedule which allows<br />

flexibility to accommodate scheduling factors that may preclude the availability of contiguous<br />

training days and hours, for example: scheduled Holidays, Reserve Component IDT days,<br />

Commander directed activities, and so on.<br />

―Blackboard Familiarization Training‖ is recommended. The familiarization training is available as<br />

self-paced interactive multimedia instruction in Bb by contacting the U.S. <strong>Army</strong> Training Support<br />

Center, Staff and Faculty Division.<br />

COURSE SCOPE:<br />

Blackboard is a web-based software system which is used to support flexible teaching and<br />

learning in face-to-face and distance courses. It provides tools and facilities for online course<br />

management, content management and sharing, assessment management, and online<br />

collaboration and communication. It's an ideal product for creating and deploying online courses<br />

and supplemental class materials. Not only does it offer a rich set of course management tools,<br />

but it can be used without any knowledge of HTML. Bb Basics is a two-day course designed to<br />

teach the fundamentals of using the Bb learning content management system as a student and/or<br />
