COURSE SCOPE:
This seminar style course offers a Whole of Government perspective for disaster relief logistics
and is sponsored by DHS/FEMA. The course is 5 academic days long and is unclassified (no
security clearance required). The Interagency Logistics Course (ILC) focuses on National and
International level logistics operations by providing military and civilian stakeholders with insights
into interagency logistics planning and execution. The objectives of the course are accomplished
through the use of dynamic lectures provided by experts in the field of disaster logistics and by
threaded discussions that are interspersed with mini and culminating case study activities.
Current policy, doctrine, theory, and processes are addressed. The ILC provides students with
the opportunity to develop and define the attributes, needs and perspectives of a National
Logistics Coordinator (NLC) as described in Emergency Support Function (ESF) #7, Logistics
Management and Resource Support of the National Response Framework (NRF). Additionally,
this course provides insights and solutions necessary to manage logistics at the strategic,
operational, and tactical levels during a national disaster/incident. The course includes a number
of guest instructors from DHS/FEMA, combatant commands and other agencies. All material is
non-testable. Students receive a CD-ROM at the end of the course with a copy of all the
presentations presented.
