5 <strong>Staff</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>, 106.3-107.1<br />

(i) The leave shall be granted for a total period of up to four weeks<br />

or, in the case of internationally-recruited staff members serving<br />

at a non-family duty station, up to eight weeks. In exceptional<br />

circumstances, leave shall be granted for a total period of up to<br />

eight weeks;<br />

(ii) The leave may be taken either continuously or in separate periods<br />

during the year following the birth of the child, provided it is<br />

completed during that year;<br />

(iii) The staff member shall receive paternity leave with full pay for the<br />

entire duration of his absence.<br />

(c) Sick leave shall not normally be granted for maternity cases except where<br />

complications arise.<br />

(d) Annual leave shall accrue during the period of maternity or paternity<br />

leave.<br />

Rule 106.4<br />

Compensation for death, injury or illness attributable to service<br />

<strong>Staff</strong> members shall be entitled to compensation in the event of death, injury or<br />

illness attributable to the performance of official duties on behalf of the <strong>Authority</strong>,<br />

in accordance with the rules set forth in Appendix D to the <strong>Staff</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> of the United<br />

Nations, which rules shall be applicable, mutatis mut<strong>and</strong>is, to the <strong>Authority</strong>.<br />

Rule 106.5<br />

Compensation for loss or damage to personal effects attributable to service<br />

<strong>Staff</strong> members shall be entitled, within the limits <strong>and</strong> under terms <strong>and</strong><br />

conditions established by the Secretary-General, to reasonable compensation in<br />

the event of loss or damage to their personal effects determined to be directly<br />

attributable to the performance of official duties on behalf of the <strong>Authority</strong>.<br />

Rule 106.6<br />

Medical insurance<br />

<strong>Staff</strong> members may be required to participate in a medical insurance scheme<br />

under conditions established by the Secretary-General.<br />

TRAvEL AND REMOvAL ExPENSES<br />

Rule 107.1<br />

Official travel of staff members<br />

(a) Subject to the conditions laid down in these <strong>Rules</strong>, the <strong>Authority</strong> shall<br />

pay the travel expenses of a staff member under the following circumstances:
