0 <strong>Staff</strong> <strong>Rules</strong>, 107.24-107.25<br />

(c) Payment of removal expenses shall be on the basis of shipment from <strong>and</strong><br />

to the following destinations:<br />

(i) On appointment, from the place of recruitment or the place<br />

recognized as the staff member’s home for purposes of home leave<br />

under rule 105.3, to the official duty station:<br />

(ii) Upon separation from service, from the official duty station to any<br />

one place to which the staff member is entitled to be returned in<br />

accordance with the provisions of rule 107.1;<br />

(iii) Payment of removal expenses from or to a place other than those<br />

specified may be authorized under terms <strong>and</strong> conditions defined<br />

by the Secretary-General. No expenses shall be paid for removing<br />

a staff member’s personal effects <strong>and</strong> household goods from one<br />

residence to another at the same duty station.<br />

Adjustments to entitlements<br />

(d) Where both husb<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> wife are staff members <strong>and</strong> each is entitled<br />

to removal of personal effects <strong>and</strong> household goods under this rule or to<br />

unaccompanied shipment under rule 107.18, <strong>and</strong> taking into account rule 104.9<br />

(d), the maximum entitlement to removal at <strong>Authority</strong> expense for both spouses<br />

shall be that provided for a staff member with a spouse or dependent child residing<br />

at the official duty station.<br />

(e) In cases where, for reasons not attributable to the <strong>Authority</strong>, the staff<br />

member has not completed the period of service in respect of which removal costs<br />

have been paid, these costs may be adjusted proportionately <strong>and</strong> recovery made<br />

under conditions established by the Secretary-General.<br />

Rule 107.25<br />

Loss of entitlement to unaccompanied shipment or removal expenses<br />

(a) A staff member who resigns before completing two years of service shall<br />

not normally be entitled to payment of removal expenses under rule 107.24 above.<br />

(b) Entitlement to removal expenses under rule 107.24(a)(i) <strong>and</strong> (ii) shall<br />

normally cease if removal has not commenced within two years after the date<br />

on which the staff member became entitled to removal expenses or if the staff<br />

member services are not expected to continue for more than six months beyond<br />

the proposed date of arrival of the personal effects <strong>and</strong> household goods.<br />

(c) Upon separation from service, entitlement to unaccompanied shipment<br />

expenses under rule 107.18(h) or removal expenses under rule 107.24 shall cease<br />

if the shipment or removal has not commenced within two years after the date<br />

of separation. However, in accordance with rule 104.9(d), where both husb<strong>and</strong><br />

<strong>and</strong> wife are staff members <strong>and</strong> the spouse who separates first is entitled to<br />

unaccompanied shipment or removal expenses, his or her entitlement shall not<br />

cease until two years after the date of separation of the other spouse.
