personal effects <strong>and</strong> household goods up to the maximum entitlement established<br />

in paragraph (i) below.<br />

Unaccompanied shipments for staff appointed or assigned<br />

for one year or longer<br />

(i) On travel of appointment or assignment for one year or longer, on transfer<br />

to another duty station, or on separation from service of a staff member appointed<br />

for one year or longer, charges for shipment of personal effects <strong>and</strong> household<br />

goods by the most economical means may be reimbursed up to a maximum of:<br />

(i) 1000 kg or 6.23 cubic metres for the staff member;<br />

(ii) 500 kg or 3.11 cubic meters for the first family member;<br />

(iii) 300 kg or 1.87 cubic metres for each additional family member<br />

authorized to travel at the expense of the <strong>Authority</strong>.<br />

Unaccompanied shipment as advance removal of personal effects<br />

<strong>and</strong> household goods<br />

(j) On travel on appointment, transfer or separation from service of a staff<br />

member for whom removal costs will be paid under staff rule 107.24, a staff member<br />

may be reimbursed the costs of advance shipment by the most economical means<br />

up to a maximum of:<br />

(i) 450 kilograms or 2.80 cubic metres for the staff member;<br />

(ii) 300 kilograms or 1.87 cubic metres for the first family member;<br />

<strong>and</strong><br />

(iii) 150 kilograms or 0.93 cubic metres for each additional family<br />

member<br />

authorized to travel at the expense of the <strong>Authority</strong>. The weight or volume of any<br />

shipment under this paragraph shall be deducted from the maximum weight or<br />

volume to which the staff member is entitled under paragraph (c) of rule 107.24.<br />

Conversion of surface shipment to unaccompanied shipment by air<br />

(k) When the most economical means of shipment is by surface, the<br />

entitlement may be converted to unaccompanied shipment by air under conditions<br />

established by the Secretary-General.<br />

Rule 107.19<br />

Insurance<br />

(a) <strong>Staff</strong> members shall not be reimbursed for the cost of personal<br />

accident insurance or of insurance of accompanied personal baggage. However,<br />

compensation may be paid, under arrangements in force under rule 106.5, in respect<br />

of loss <strong>and</strong> damage to such baggage determined to be directly attributable to the<br />

performance of official duties on behalf of the <strong>Authority</strong>.
