El 2 de agosto de 1990, Saddam Hussein invadió y anexó el territorio de Kuwait a Irak, causando un<br />
sentimiento compartido de conmoción en la sociedad internacional. Ante la constante negativa del<br />
gobierno iraquí por abandonar el territorio, la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU)<br />
mediante su resolución número 660 aprobó la operación “Tormenta del desierto”, liderada por el<br />
ejército de los Estados Unidos y conformada por una coalición de 31 naciones. Este ensayo<br />
pretende analizar la motivación de los Estados Unidos para intervenir dentro de la llamada Guerra<br />
del Golfo, así como las repercusiones que la misma tuvo en el futuro de la nación asiática y la<br />
Guerra de Irak o Segunda Guerra del Golfo.<br />

Abstract<br />
On August 2, 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded and annexed the territory of Kuwait to<br />
Iraq, causing a shared commotion into the international society. Due to the continuum rejection of<br />
the Iraqi government to leave the territory of Kuwait, the United Nations Security Council<br />
(UNSC), through its resolution No. 660 approved the Operation “Desert Storm”, led<br />
by the United States Army and formed by a coalition of 31 nations. This essay aims to analyze the<br />
motivation of the United States to interfere in the so called Gulf War, as well as the impact it had<br />
on the future of this Middle East nation, including the Iraq War or Second Gulf War.<br />
