El puma andino
y el chancho
Hace mucho tiempo había un bellísimo
puma andino, muy presumido, al que le
gustaba cantar.
que el puma estaba siempre limpio y perfumado;
en cambio, el chancho andaba
sucio y desarreglado.
ella.
And We
Made It
It was a regular Monday night. We were finishing
our Ballet class when all of a sudden Miss Sully
told us that she wanted to talk to us. She had just
decided to sign us up in an international Ballet
contest.
Miss Sully gave us the “good” news, she told us
that we would have to work really hard. At first we
were all excited but then we realized that it would
not be easy. We started to practice day after day
the coreography and it seemed impossible to do
it right.
And the challenge began, Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Thursday. Annie, Christie,
Brianna, Val, Mary Jane, Lucy, Steph and I arrived
on time. But one day Brianna felt ill and Miss Sully
had to cancel the practice. We were very nervous
because we really wanted Brianna to participate.
The coreography was awesome and the clothes
too, but there was a problem, they were too
small and Miss Sully had to change them for
new ones. We were very worried but Miss Sully
said that whatever happened we had to enjoy the
experience, to do what we love and to show all
our effort on the stage.
The more we practiced, the more we realized that
all of us had different schedules and it would
be difficult to find a day when all of us could
practice. At the same time, Val and Mary Jane
were fighting often and they did not get along
because they were both pushing to take the lead
of the group. It was the last rehearsal before the
big day and Miss Sully didn´t come, we were all
nervous and worried but we decided to work
together. The good thing was that Val and Mary
Jane became friends again and everything went
well. We were still nervous and we finished very
tired.
It was the day of the contest day. We had to arrive two hours before the international Ballet contest.
We were very hungry. Miss Sully came and gave us the “bad” news, one of the judges was feeling ill.
The contest was postponed for about one hour; when finally it started. We were one of the first groups
to perform. It was our turn, we did it very well, we were all happy with our performance. We had a rest
while the judges were deciding. Before that, Miss Sully had already told us that we didn´t have to win
only to be proud of ourselves.
And the judges started: “the third place goes to Dance Academy of Liberty Billes” there was a lot of
noise. “The second place goes to New Best Dancer Academy”. Our hearts were beating very fast and
suddenly the first place first place was for us. We were very surprised but the best of all was that we
won thanks to our effort. After all, it started as a fun activity and it turned into a great passion. We made
it!
