An Unlikely
Friendship
On the edge of the Amazons, lived a six year old girl named Kate.
She had lived before with her family in Bolivia. Later, there was a
war. Her parents put her in a rowboat in the Amazon River. She
rowed and rowed and rowed until her arms gave up. Kate looked
around, confused of where she was. She got up and stood right
by a giant tree. She looked at the sky and said, “It is getting dark
and I should find a safe place to sleep.” So she climbed a tree
and fell asleep.
The next morning, she found a wolf cub that had a broken leg and
its mom had left it there because it was the runt and could not
walk fast enough to keep up. Kate jumped down and carefully
bandaged its leg with a leaf and some sticks. She looked around
and spotted a tree with roots in the shape of an upside down
bowl. She grabbed a stick and made a very small hole so that no
predators could pass except for her and the wolf cub that she
called Yipper. Then Kate grabbed some twigs, vines and some
moss to weave a box like bed. After doing this she put the moss
on the bottom as a cushion for the wolf cub Yipper. Then, to
make her bed, she got more moss and spread it out on a flat
surface. She put Yipper in his bed, lay down as the sun set.
She woke up the next morning with the question of how she
was going to find food to eat. So Kate got a strong branch and
a stone. She used the stone to sharpen the branch so it would
act like a spear. Next, Kate taught Yipper not to bite, but to go off
and hunt, then bring whatever he had caught back. She worried
about the safety of her “home”. So Kate grabbed four strong
three feet sticks and with two of them, she tied them together at
the base to form a “v” shape using a small vine. She did the same
with the other two. She tied the two v shaped sticks together at
their bases. After tying a vine to each four ends, she tied each
vine to the vine in front of it with a special knot so that you only
have to pull one end and it would come out. She placed a rock
in-between two sticks so that whenever she pulled an end of a
vine the rock would go launching through the air. She made as
many of these as could fit around the tree.
One month later, Yipper’s leg had healed. Kate sent him off to
hunt and then she went to a river with her spear and got some
fish to store for later. Kate arrived home right on time when
Yipper returned with a deer. So she stored the fish for later and
shared a venison dinner with him. She lived like this for nine
years.
One day she was playing with Yipper and his pups when she
heard the sound of a helicopter! She sprang up and signaled for
the family of wolves to follow her and ran to an open area where
the helicopter had landed. They were all very excited and got her
on board but she said she would not leave her family of wolves.
However, the people were scared of the wolves at first but got
used to them after seeing that they were tame. So they all went
back to civilization together and lived happily ever after.
The Beach
As the sea sounds,
Sleeping on the ground,
The waves are loud
But with a beautiful sound.
Dreaming about fish,
Jumping in the sea,
Singing a little song,
That reminds me my happiness,
and my beautiful life.
Swimming in the ocean,
Touching the sand,
Relaxing in the beach,
Oh, how beautiful life is.
A Movie
When you see a movie,
You feel you’re free,
Thinking and thinking,
You are also acting.
But, inside the movie,
There are just real actors.
Really, it’s fabulous to see
a movie, because you
imagine:
This is really happening!
