Natural Disasters
In this cooperative group project, our students
had to work together to research and present
information orally about natural disasters.
They first chose amongst themselves a natural
disaster and then had a two-week period to
research and prepare their final oral presentation.
Students were evaluated on their use of
english, pronunciation, intonation and ability to
use visual aids to assist their presentation.
In this powerpoint presentation, Santiago Carpio, Antonia
Milla de León, Rafaella Céspedes, and Rodrigo Ausejo
presented various aspects of an earthquake.
Short Story
As part of the Preliminary English Test (PET),
students write a short story. In the unit Famous
People, students had to imagine they
were famous people and write a short story
for an international magazine. For this assignment,
students had to submit a hundred
word, double-spaced and well-structured
short story. They had to include examples
of conditionals as well as adjectives and
adverbs to be more descriptive. Finally, students
had to include a prompt line. In this
case, the story had to begin with this sentence,
“If I hadn’t come home early...”.
