Hiram Winnett Orr, chirurgien orthopédiste américain du début duvingtième siècle, fit don d'une partie <strong>de</strong> sa collection à I'American Collège <strong>of</strong> Surgeons qui publiaun catalogue en 1960. Le catalogue <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> collection Orr décrit environ 2300 livres publiés après 1507(336 avant 1800), plus du tiers <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> collection étant consacré à <strong>la</strong> chirurgie et <strong>la</strong> mé<strong>de</strong>cine militaire;il comporte vingt-trois illustrations en noir et b<strong>la</strong>nc (principalement <strong>de</strong>s pages <strong>de</strong> titres ou <strong>de</strong>sp<strong>la</strong>nches), ainsi qu'un in<strong>de</strong>x <strong>de</strong>s noms. Hiram WinnettOrr, an American orthopaedic surgeon <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> early twentieth century,donated part <strong>of</strong> his collection to <strong>the</strong> American College <strong>of</strong> Surgeons which published a catalogue in1960. Winnett Orr collectionna les livres<strong>de</strong> mé<strong>de</strong>cine pendant plus <strong>de</strong> trente années,n'hésitant pas à entretenir une correspondancerégulière avec d'autres bibliophiles pour obtenir<strong>de</strong>s informations au sujet <strong>de</strong> livres rares qu'ilvenait <strong>de</strong> se procurer. Certains items <strong>de</strong> sacollection furent donnés à <strong>la</strong> bibliothèque <strong>de</strong>l'Hôpital Universitaire d'Ann Arbor (Michigan), à<strong>la</strong> Winnett Mémorial Library<strong>de</strong> l'Hôpital Général<strong>de</strong> Lincoln (Nebraska), ainsi qu'à <strong>la</strong> LoveMémorial Library <strong>de</strong> l'Université du Nebraska(3), mais <strong>la</strong> plupart ont été légués à l'AmericanCollège <strong>of</strong> Surgeons.
