Tricot. Un desobjectifs de ces colloques est de développer lesliens entre sociétés nationales d'histoire de lamédecine et SIHM. Dans cette perspective, lorsdu Conseil d'Administration (26 juin 1999) deParis, la Société Française d'Histoire de la Médecineavait organisé avec l'Ecole Pratique desHautes Etudes (IV ème section : Sciences histo*-riques et philologiques) une séance sur l'Histoirede l'Anesthésie. Deux de nos membres SIHM,Simonne Mac Dougall et John Blair avaient traitéde l'histoire de la découverte et de la diffusion del'anesthésie dans le monde anglo-saxon.- A titre de rendu, John Blair propose, à Londres,en septembre 2001, un colloque SIHM avec laRoyal Society of History of Medicine et la BritishMédical Association. Le Conseil d'Administrationsources of traditional Alternative Medicine.After the Galveston congress, a new Index Membroramincluding new up-to-date listsof subscribermembers' addresses is planned.During the ISHM General Meeting, a filmpresented by Pr. Sari gave an outline of the city ofIstanbul and of its history, and of the site of theCongress, the Swisshotel, in the heart of Istanbul,overlookingtheBosphorus,overtheDolmabahcepalace. Three cities are possible: Bah (Italy),Budapest (Hungary), Moscow (Russia). Thetowns are encouraged to send documents to theSecretariat General. The decision will be finalisedduring the next ISHM Administrative Councilmeeting in Paris (June 2001).- Even years: the idea of a small ISHM symposiumin the intervening years was suggested byJ. P. In this perspective,during the Paris Administrative Councilmeeting (26th of June 1999), the French Societyfor the History of Medicine and the EcolePratique des Hautes Etudes (4th section: Historicaland Philological Sciences) organised asession on the history of anaesthesia. TwoISHM members, Simonne MacDougall and JohnBlair, discussed the history of the discovery anddiffusion of anaesthetics in the Anglo-Saxonworld.John Blair suggested a ISHM symposium inLondon in September 2001 with the Royal Societyof Medicine and the British MedicalAssociation. Le principe des colloquesscientifiques brefs, les années impaires,avait été adopté par le C.A. de Paris (juin 1999)11. Site InternetAvec le soutien du Prof. O'Neill, le Secrétaire Généralpropose, parallèlement au site américain de LosAngeles, la mise en place d' un nouveau lieuinternet à Paris avec, pour partenaire, la BibliothèqueInter-Universitaire de Médecine (BIUM).La BIUM est domiciliéel 2 rue de l'Ecole de Médecine,à Paris. Elle possède l'un des plus beauxfonds documentaires en histoire de la médecine(800 manuscrits, 100 incunables, 3.000 ouvragesdu XVIe siècle, 6.000 du XVIIe, 12.000 du XVIIIe,plus de 40.000 du XIXe, une centaine de médailles,4.500 clichés de gravure, un ensembleimportant de portraits gravés). Cette bibliothèquemet à disposition à titre bénévole, un informaticienet un documentaliste spécialisé dans les fondsanciens. Le Secrétaire Général aurait en charge laresponsabilité scientifique du site SIHM et samaintenance. Il serait aidé, pour la traduction dufrançais en anglais par le Dr. E. Lomax, SecrétaireGénérale Adjointe. Grâce à ces dispositions, lesdeux sites de Los Angeles et de Paris fonctionneronten miroir et le bilinguisme officiel de la SIHMsera ainsi parfaitement respecté. Le Conseild'Administration donne son accord pour ce partenariatavec la BIUM de Paris qui sera matérialiséjuridiquement par une Convention .Council and General Meeting are delighted withthis new initiative. The idea of short scientificsymposia on even years was accepted at theParis Administrative Council meeting (June 1999).11. SIHM WebsiteWith Pr. O'Neill's support, the Secretary Generalproposes, in parallel to the American Los Angelessite, the implementation of a new Parisinternet site in partnership with the BibliothequeInter Universitaire de Medecine (BIUM).The BIUM is situated at 12 rue de I'Ecole deMedecine in Paris. It has one of the most completecollection of document on the history ofmedicine (800 manuscripts, 100 incunabula,3000 16th century works, 6000 of the 17th,12000 of the 18th, over 40000 of the 19th, 100medals, 4500 engraving plates, an importantseries of engraved portraits). This libraryprovides, free of charge, the help of an IT expertand of an archivist who specialises in ancientitems. The Secretary General would havescientific responsibility for the ISHM site and itsupkeep. He would be helped by Dr. E. Lomax,Associate Secretary General, for the Frenchinto-Englishtranslation. With these arrangements,the Los Angeles and Paris sites wouldfunction as mirrors, and the bilingualism of ISHMwould be respected. The Board of Directorsagree to this partnership with the Paris BIUM,which will be legally finalised by covenant.12. Publications- Actes :Des difficultés financières ont rendu impossible lapublication des Actes de Cos. Le décès inopiné duProf. Ammar a rendu également très problématiquela publication des Actes du Congrès de Tunis-Carthage. Vesalius est prêt à envisager la publicationdes articles de ces congrès qui doiventêtre soumis au bureau de Bruxelles pour acceptation.De son côté, le Prof. Burns donne l'assuranceque les Actes de Galveston seront intégralementpubliés.12. Publications- Proceedings :Financial difficulties have made the publicationof the Proceedings of the Cos Conference impossible.Pr. Ammar's sad and unexpected deathhas also hindered the publication of theproceedings of the Tunis-Carthage Congress.Vesalius is prepared to consider publishing articlesfrom these congresses, which should besubmitted to Brussels Office for editorial review.Pr. Burns assures us that the Galveston Acts willbe published in their entirety.148
