Work session of the Tell el-Far’ah North publication Project : « Tell el-Farah North. The Early
Bronze Age Settlement: The Ceramic Ensemble (1946-1960) Excavation Seasons”.
- Following the research already accomplished in the previous work sessions, the work was
focused on the documentation of all the unselected pottery material collected in boxes on
the shelves of the EBAF Museum (around 5000 items). The first phases of the
documentation process, including the selection, re-ordering and inventory of the material,
were completed during this work session: all the material is now re-ordered and
inventoried. The cataloguing of the material was also carried on: each item is described
throught a dedicated sheet, which registers the typological and technological characteristics.
Of the more than 50 initial boxes, 8 remain to be catalogued. In the meantime, the drawing
of the material was carried on and will be continued in the next work sessions, together
with photography.
- The project also aims at studying and re-assessing the stratigraphy of the earliest phases of
occupation at the site, from the Chalcolithic to the end of the Early Bronze II settlement.
The study of the stratigraphy was continued through a comparative study of unpublished
plans and sections and the information contained in the fiels diaries and notebooks.
