KSP TAMPOROK TIMAMPAS
North Minahasa, Norht Sulawesi
Providing Wide Open
opportunities, Tight Requirements
Sumiati is a simple woman. She lives in
Tatelu Village, Dimembe District. Be
hind her simplicity she is actually a
strong business woman. Since 2001, Sumiati
is the manager of land fishery small business
sector. Sumiati is a member of Loan Save Cooperation
(KSP) of Tamporok Timampas, receiver
of scrolling fund strengthening for Sector KSP.
Sector
In 2005, Sumiati submitted a proposal
on capital strengthening for fishery business
that she managed. Capital aid with the value
of Rp 5 million was obtained by her. With that
much money, she bought fish seed and food.
As a discipline member of KSP she paid back
the loan installment, and then she applied for
the second stage loan, in the amount of 10
million, then the third one in the amount of
Rp 15 million. “I used all that money for business
capital, not for purchasing household
goods,” said Sumiati expressly.
Eight years later, now Sumiati has had
six fish ponds. In addition she also supplies
fish for restaurants in Minahasa and Manado.
Sumiati is a hard work type of business
woman, any hindrances do not stop her spirit
from progressing. Now, thanks to her hard
work in managing her business, in a month
she can obtain a net profit of Rp 4.5 million.
Loan Save Cooperation (KSP) Tamporok
Timampas was established in 2003. Because
of its good recording system, their proposal
to obtain scrolling fund aid for Sector KSP in
the amount of Rp 1 billion was granted in 2005.
Because of the discipline in system management,
scrolling fund in the amount of Rp 1
billion has now four years later, developed to
become Rp 2 billion. “Such increase was obtained
from profit of the managed loan save
business,” said Chairman of KSP Tamporok
Timampas, Juliantje Kaunang. Such success also
affects the return level of loan fund to the bank.
In 2008 Temporok returned such scrolling loan
fund in the amount of Rp 100 million plus interest.
According to KSP data, currently asset
that is owned has reached the amount of Rp
800 million. Meanwhile, financial balance also
shows enough increase to make all administrators
smile in satisfaction. On of the indicators,
for example, can be seen from the amount
of credit issued. In 2007 the amount of credit
distributed reached the amount of
Rp1.967.808.300, which then produced business
profit in the amount of Rp24.181.925. A
year later, the amount of credit distributed increased
to become Rp1.998.278.300 with
business profit that also increased to become
Rp27.199.507.
Such sparkling financial performance is
the fruit of scrolling fund distribution system
which is relatively tight. In terms of membership,
KSP applies the open house system. It
means, it opens the door widely for communities
or future members who wish to become
KSP members. “We provide opportunities wide
open for future members to become members
of KPS,” said Chairman of KSP Tamporok
Timampas, Juliantje Kaunang.
The wide open door policy by one side,
and the tight enactment in its requirements are
actually fruitful. The output is the large and selective
number of members. Up to 2009 members
of KSP have reached 1,604 scattered not
only in Tatelu Village but also the surrounding
villages such as Pinilih, Warukapas, Wassian,
Lumpias, T. Rondor and Klabat.
