KSP Trisula Majalengka
The Progress of Trisula in
“The Wind City”
Twenty Six years ago, precisely in 1983,
a farmer organization in three villages
in the district of Palasah Majalengka
Regency had a discussion. They were united
under Tegalsipur Farmers Group. In such
regular farmers meeting, Subani, the group
leader, proposed to establish a business
entity that could protect farmers, both in providing
various needs of farmers and
accomodating their harvest output, including
the price certainty of crops sale proceeds. In
principal, they wanted to have a cooperation.
Trisula, or KUD Trisula, is the name they
picked for the business entity that they tried
to establish based on kindship and working
together spirit.
In 2004, KUD Trisula was programmed
to become a participant of scrolling fund
strenghtening program from the government
in the form of agribusiness program credit
with a value of Rp 1 billion. In order to be
able to obtain such fund, the business entity
must be in the form of Save Loan Cooperation
(KSP). Therefore, the existing Save Loan
Unit (USP) in KUD Trisula was then developed
to become Save Loan Cooperation
(KSP) of Trisula.
The formation change from USP to become
KSP, could not attract the interest of
the community to become a customer/member
of KSP Trisula. Neverthelessm, KSP
performance kept showing a significant increase.
According to June 2009 balance, the
amount of asset was on the level of Rp 9
billion. The save distributed in 2008 was
noted at Rp 6.6 billion.
Service scope became wider. Previously
(when it was still in the form of USP) the operation
only covered Palasah District, now
KSP Trisula covers several other districts in
Majalengka Regency, including 26 districts
and 331 village with number of members up
to 1,541. Fantastic numbers!
In addition to administrative requirements,
Trisula management also applies qualification
requirements. Each of the borrower
must obtain recommendation from a group unit
comprising 20 up to 50 persons. Without such
recommendation, loan could not be liquidated
even if administratively the borrower has met
the requirements. The amount of loan varies
from the smallest amount Rp 1 million up to
150 million with interest rate of 2 percent. The
joint responsibility (togetherness) with group
aproach pattern is the system used by KSP
Trisula in distributing loan.
This type of distribution pattern is able
to press non performing credit risk. In 2008
balance, for instance, non performing loan
(NPL) of KSP Trisula was under 5%. According
to the record of Jabar Banten Bank
Majalengka Branch, KSP Trisula is the cooperation
with quite favorable level of loan return.
In mid 2009, the level of loan return of
scrolling fund in the amount of 1 billion had
reached 50% or in the amount of Rp 500 million.
Even though KSP Trisula is only 5 years
old, it has achieved several awards in regency,
province and national levels; such as Achiever
Cooperation Champion for Save Loan Cooperation
Group Majalengka Regency Level,
Achiever Save Loan Cooperation West Java
Province Level in 2006. On the 62th Cooperation
Day, KSP Trisula reached the
achievement as The Best Cooperation for
National Level in the year 2009 with the category
of Independent Business Cooperation.
