MARCO DE LUCA, Torino, 1964 La ricerca artistica di Marco De Luca indaga il rapporto tra l’individuo e l’ambiente, in termini sia mentali, che fi sici o sociali, toccando i temi del desiderio, del gioco, della memoria personale e collettiva. Si esprime con la scultura e l’installazione, il video, il disegno e la pittura. «Parte della mia ricerca» scrive De Luca, «è rivolta alla progettazione di oggetti e ambienti che interrogano la sfera del comportamento. Mi interessa rifl ettere sul rapporto di reciproco condizionamento – e quindi di adattamento e trasformazione - che si stabilisce, attraverso l’uso, tra un oggetto, un ambiente, un luogo e la persona che vi si relaziona». “Sistemi di adattamento”, titolo di un suo ciclo di lavori avviato nel 1999, sintetizza molto bene la fi losofi a che guida queste opere, intese come dispositivi destinati a sovvertire l’accezione funzionale e normata di “adatto” attraverso l’adattamento al piacere, alla condivisione, al gesto “liberato”. Sculture dai rigorosi volumi geometrici quando chiuse, i “Mobili da uffi cio” (1999-2001) una volta aperti consentono di spostarsi altrove, di inceppare il ritmo lavorativo quotidiano, assecondando, ciascuno in modo specifi co, attività quali la lettura, il fumo, la preparazione del caffè. Tra le opere di questo ciclo uno zaino multifunzionale, realizzato e accessoriato dall’artista con elementi destinati a fare fronte a situazioni di emergenza, quali l’air-bag e le cinture di sicurezza, diviene, nel video che ne mostra le possibilità d’uso, un’altalena, un cuscino, uno strumento apparentemente paradossale, ideale per lasciarsi andare (“Zainetto”, 2000-2001). Tra i suoi progetti più recenti ha realizzato, nel parco giochi di Settimo Rottaro, un Comune della provincia di Torino, una grande scultura ludica progettata come uno spazio trasformabile sui desideri di quei bambini che ne saranno i principali fruitori, e destinata all’intera comunità degli abitanti. In perfetto equilibrio tra arte e design, questo progetto permette una moltiplicazione esponenziale di possibilità d’uso e di invenzioni, così come suggerito dal titolo dell’opera: “Al cubo” (2006). Per Villa Mazzotti, De Luca realizza l’installazione “Non tutti gli incantesimi volano”, titolo tratto da una poesia di John Keats. Si tratta di sette scritte al neon a luce bianca che riproducono in corsivo il nome dei colori che compongono l’arcobaleno: violetto, rosso, blu, arancione, giallo, indaco, verde. Installate a terra in ordine sparso, come disperse dopo una caduta, queste parole luminose rifl ettono su un fenomeno fi sico che si manifesta nella meraviglia di un incantesimo, di un miraggio, e che nei tempi ha assunto diversi signifi cati: in passato metafora del passaggio dal terreno al divino, oggi utilizzato come simbolo di associazioni umanitarie e della rivendicazione dei diritti umani. Con l’arcobaleno scomposto nelle sue singole unità, l’artista allude a una situazione contemporanea sempre più contrassegnata dalla sfi ducia nel presente e dalla diffi cile proiezione nel futuro, lasciando al tempo stesso al visitatore la possibilità di ricomporre il miraggio e la sua carica utopica. I colori, resi invisibili, restano infatti presenti all’interno delle sette parole al neon, illuminate da una luce volutamente senza colore che racchiude in sé l’intero spettro dei colori reali. Se la somma dei colori genera il bianco, signifi ca che all’interno di quelle parole senza pigmento sono ancora contenuti, seppure in forma potenziale, tutti i colori dell’arcobaleno, pronti per generare nuove combinazioni, nuovi linguaggi. L’opera diventa così un punto di partenza, una serie di parole consegnate all’immaginazione. L.P.
