“Mangano a ruota”, il Museo
Etnografico e il Musas - Museo storico
archeologico.
This is a magical town with a noble
atmosphere, a centuries-old history and
buildings dating back a thousand years,
such as the parish church. It also has a
network of over two hundred marvellous
caves whose origins are shrouded in
mystery. It has a rich cultural tradition
and hosts a number of important
events. Well worth visiting are the
churches, the old town quarters, piazza
Ganganelli, the Malatesta fortress, the
caves, the old cloth printing workshop
with its “wheel mangle”, the
Ethnographic Museum and “MUSAS”
Ancient “Scorticata” stands at the top of
a high rocky spur, with the remains of
the Malatesta fortress and the tower.
This is one of the prettiest parts of the
Rimini area, with unspoilt nature and
the village of Montebello where Guidi
Fortress, notorious for the legend of the
ghost of Azzurrina, is situated.
Tra il IX e il VI secolo a. C. fu sede della
raffinata civiltà Villanoviana che ha
lasciato oggetti di rara bellezza oggi
conservati nel Museo Civico
Archeologico Villanoviano. Il centro
storico mantiene intatta la sua origine
medioevale e l’intero territorio è ricco di
testimonianze: necropoli e siti
archeologici con scavi ancora in atto,
antiche pievi, chiese e conventi che
conservano rarità come il secolare
cipresso di San Francesco.
Between the 9 th and 6 th centuries B.C.,
the town was the centre of the refined
Villanovan civilisation, which left behind
some particularly beautiful objects, now
preserved in the Villanovan
Archaeological Municipal Museum. The
old town has preserved its medieval
origins and the whole area is rich in
historic remains. There’s a necropolis
and archaeological sites with
excavations that are still open, ancient
parish churches and monasteries that
house rarities, such as the ancient
cypress of St. Francis.
