Die Casting, the division dedicated to this industrial sector,
soon reached the highest market segment, and upheld this
position over the years by means of continuous efforts in
research and development and a reputation for great reliability.
Let us begin our meeting with Paolo Zanone
by asking for some further details on the Swiss
companyandonindustrialactivitiesinthedie
casting machine sector.
Bühler was founded in the nineteenth century to produce
rolls for mills and it is now a company with over 11.000 employees
worldwide, about a hundred branches and production
sites, overall returns in the range of two and a half billion
euro and a very wide range of industrial activities, mainly
aimed at the food machines and plants segment, from biscuits
to chocolate, rice and pasta, to pet food; but also optical
machinery, metal coating plants for car lamps and of
course die casting machines. I mentioned this segment last
to lead us to our topic, but it is highly relevant in our company
and account for about 12% of overall revenues.
Bühler’s size, structure and industrial culture place it
among multinational companies, it dedicates great attention
to its social responsibility, it invests a great deal in research
and development, roughly between 4 and 5% of its
total sales, and to this date the company has over 1.900
patents either registered or pending, among them about a
hundred concern die casting. In spite of its size, the Group
maintains aspects of a family-run business, headed by a
general director that reports directly to the Bühler family,
and stands out for the attention to many traditional values:
it is an organization based on merit and devotes great attentiontothehumanfactor, somuchsothatpeopleworking
here feel very comfortable and very rarely leave the
company for other occupations.
