From your standpoint, how do you consider
that the die casting world is evolving in qualitativeandquantitativeterms,consideringboth
thetechnicaloutlookandtheaspect
ofthedifferentcharacteristicsofthe
regional economies?
In this segment, as in many other economical and industrial
areas, especially in Europe and in the United States,
we are witnessing an evolution that is progressing very
rapidly. Let us imagine, in very simplified terms, the systemofdiecastingmanufacturersrepresentedbyatriangle;fromthebasetothevertex,thenumberofoperators
decreases and the quality increases. The upper bracket
was typically made up of more powerful machines, up to
4.000 tons, while the lower end was made up of smaller
machines, less than 700 tons. During the past few years
positions have changed considerably, the strong demand
forstructuralcastsforcarsselectedintheupperbracket
those operators that managed to innovate and remain
competitive even in presence of higher standards, many
foundries remained unchanged and slipped into the middle
range, that increased in number; a lower range of cheaper
products developed, that are unlikely to survive in Europe
and North America given the competition of countries
