Renzo Moschini has prematurely past away<br />
ItiswithgreatsadnessthatAlfin-EdimetandeditorinchiefofA&L<br />
sharethenewsofthedeathofRenzoMoschini,oneofthebrightest<br />
and most innovative expert in semi solid state Al alloys, author<br />
of numerous scientific papers and appreciated throughout the world<br />
foritshighscientificandindustrialleveland,inthesametimeforhis<br />
great humanity and friendly availability.<br />
Pupil of “Collegio Ghislieri” in Pavia, one of the most exclusive in Italy<br />
forthehighlevelofthestudents,aftergraduatinginphysicsjoined<br />
the Fiat Research Center and among other things he dedicated his<br />
activity to study alloys in globular shape in solidification range and<br />
deposited several patents. He, later, became responsible for the development<br />
of technologies in Magneti Marelli and began producing<br />
fuel rail with the technology of Thixocasting by which were produced<br />
more than 4 million units. So far the most massive industrial<br />
productionwithsemi-solidAlalloys.Afterhefoundedhisowncompany<br />
active in the development of technologies related to globular<br />
alloys and application of ceramic cores in HPDC. With Renzo we have<br />
lostagreattechnicianandaveryspecialperson.<br />

dedica allo studio delle microstrutture globulari nelle leghe d’alluminio<br />
e deposita diversi brevetti. In seguito diventa responsabile<br />
dello sviluppo tecnologico in Magneti Marelli e avvia la produzione<br />
diiniettoripermotoriapplicandolatecnologiaThixocasting,con<br />
laqualefuronoprodottipiùdi4milionidipezzi,unrecordperl’epoca.<br />
Anni dopo Moschini diventa imprenditore e fonda un’azienda<br />
propria, attiva nello sviluppo di tecnologie per la pressocolata in<br />
semisolidoel’applicazionedianimeceramichenellapressocolata.<br />
Con la scomparsa di Renzo perdiamo un tecnico brillante e una<br />
persona molto speciale.<br />
IAIappointsHildeMereteAasheimaschair<br />
Hilde Merete Aasheim, Executive Vice President of Hydro’s primary<br />
metal business, has been appointed Chair of the International Aluminium<br />
Institute (IAI), at the 89th meeting of its Board of Directors<br />
in Shanghai. Aasheim takes over from Abdulla Kalban, Chief Executive<br />
Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, who<br />
stands down at the end of his two year tenure.<br />
“We see growing demand for lightweight, strong,<br />
safe and energy efficient aluminium products<br />
across all market segments and, through the<br />
IAI, we will continue to promote sustainability<br />
and resource efficiency along the metal’s value<br />
chain”, says Aasheim.<br />
For world aluminium industry 2015 has been<br />
the most challenging of years, with commodity<br />
prices depressed, stagnant growth and increasing<br />
geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Demand<br />
for aluminium products remains robust,<br />
however, with exciting times ahead as advances<br />
and innovation continue in the transportation<br />
sector in particular. “But we know there remain<br />
a number of global challenges, with drivers both<br />
internal and external to our industry, and I am<br />
confident that under Hilde’s leadership the IAI<br />
will be in a strong position to respond to them”,<br />
says Kalban.<br />

Perl’industriamondialedell’alluminioil2015<br />
è stato un anno complicato, con i prezzi delle materieprimeinribassoeunacrescitastagnantedovuta<br />
anche alle incertezze geopolitiche ed economiche.<br />
Tuttavia la domanda di prodotti in alluminio rimaneforte,trainatainparticolaredallenuoveapplicazione<br />
nel settore dei trasporti. “Ma sappiamo che ci<br />
sarannonuovesfideglobali”,hacommentatoilpresidente<br />
uscente Abdulla Kalban, “con nuove direttrici<br />
di sviluppo interne ed esterne al nostro settore e<br />
sonofiduciosochesottolaguidadiHildel’InternationalAluminiumInstitutesaràinunaposizionediforza<br />
per rispondere ad esse“.<br />
