I
like to define the Residenza Rivabella as a place to live. That’s
because it is. It’s nothing like an ordinary retirement home for the
elderly, even one for wealthy foreigners, but a place to spend a period
of your life – either by necessity, or for convalescence or treatment – in as
humane and agreeable a way possible,” explains its director Alexandre
Aleman, who has been managing this rather exceptional establishment
for nearly four years. In the well-tended atmosphere of a first-class
hotel, it offers elderly people, though not just the elderly, the opportunity
to live independently while assisting them with all their basic
living requirements.
Located in the gentle climate of Ticino, not far from the city of
Lugano, the Residenza is easy to reach and has good transport links,
making life easier for both residents and visitors. The home is an ideal
place for short stays, for rest and
recuperation or just for a holiday.
“Many of our guests choose the Residenza
Rivabella as a base for their stay in
Ticino, either for work reasons or just
for a short holiday,” continues Aleman.
“They include international business
managers, entrepreneurs and senior
banking executives.”
In a dreamlike landscape, it offers an
exclusive atmosphere, professional
and caring treatments, with total respect
for privacy. Each resident feels as
though they were in their own home,
thanks to the courtesy and attentions
of the extremely highly qualified staff.
Staff who include not only qualified
therapists (occupational therapists,
physiotherapists, etc.) but also specialists
in internal medicine, geriatricians and
cardiologists, etc. They also collaborate
closely with local hospitals in the canton
and the region’s main private clinics.

to everyday life, confides the director,
adding that a while ago work began on expanding the facility: the
improvements to the communal spaces and the addition of two new
buildings should satisfy even the most demanding clients. In a very
short time they have created eight new three-room apartments
without architectural barriers that are connected to the clinic’s care
services twenty four hours a day. Another 13 two-room apartments are
planned for the future, half of them permanently connected to the
