Swiss Game Design Study 2009 64
is a web-art based plateforme launched in 2006. Its members are based in Switzerland
and Brazil. In meetopia's projects, computers and networks are understood as well as
tools and means of production and circulation as locations and subjects of a digital
condition that is defined by the accessibility, the appropriation, the reproduction and
replication of the code, the connection to networks, and the development of a digital
knowledge which produce a collective intelligence.
meetopia focus on the sharing of data, the multishaped identities of the digital culture,
the hybridity of the digital places, and a new definition of the multiple replicated by the
code and the «copy & paste » function, main markers of the digital condition.
Laurent Schmid situe son travail artistique entre les différents médias. Comme éditeur, il
s’engage pour les travaux numériques. Laurent Schmid aime la multiplicité des
propositions et est notamment séduit par les algorithmes et les formules. « [...] the
hidden particles of resistance the ‘sand in the Vaseline’ as Martin Kippenberger once
flippantly expressed it, have in multiple variations become the object of Schmid’s art. [...]
he is also an artist who dœs not invent images but rather confiscates them ; who dœs
not access an original meaning, but augments existing meaning with new meaning ; who
is attracted by the fragmentary, is interested in the ephemeral nature of the phenomena.
