Die „Tropenstation La Gamba“ in Costa Rica – Wissenschaftlicher Bericht
To collect data and to identify mammals in the field a combination of methods has to be applied
because different methods yield different mammal species and results.
Habitat attributes, vegetation measurements
At each sampling site a number of habitat attributes will be recorded that can be expected or have
been identified in previous studies as particularly important in determining the occurrence and
relative abundance of mammal species.
We will use a few simple, cheap and standardised methods to measure (micro) habitat features in
order to characterise local conditions and to compare and analyse habitat requirements and niche
segregation patterns of important species.
