Der Berg von MonteCristo befindet sich
nur 10 Autominuten von Maspalomas
entfernt im Ayagaures Tal. Der Pflanzenkünstler,
Maler und Skulpturenbauer Guy Martin
hat hier auf 4 Ebenen einen Naturpark erschaffen,
der wirklich einzigartig ist. Es finden
sich über 1500 verschiedene Pflanzenarten
und die mehr als 70 Obstsorten sorgen dafür,
dass das Restaurant auf Monte Cristo immer
frisch bestückt ist. Andreas Dacke, Partner von
Guy und Chefkoch im Restaurant, verarbeitet
sämtliche Erzeugnisse der Oase in seinen
Ge-richten. Aber vor dem Labsal werden all
meine Sinne gefordert. Was einem vielleicht
Chefkoch Andreas Dacke
Keine riesige Allerweltskarte, sondern
The mountain of MonteCristo is located
only 10 minutes by car from Maspalomas
in the Ayagaures valley. The
plant artist, painter and sculptor Guy Martin
has created a nature park on 4 levels that is
truly unique. There are more than 1500 different
kinds of plants and the more than 70
kinds of fruits make sure that the restaurant
on Monte Cristo is always freshly stocked.
Andreas Dacke, partner of Guy and chef in
the restaurant, uses all the products of the
oasis in his dishes. But before the refreshment
all my senses are challenged. What
might make you sweat at the thought of
climbing a mountain is a real pleasure when
you climb Monte Cristo. Over wonderfully
laid out stairs and paths, I roam art objects
by Guy Martin and other artists. From time
to time I encounter things from other times.
Glass tiles from the 18th century, wall pieces
from medieval castles, a stone mosaic made
almost 2000 years ago. I discover a lake with
wonderful Koi carps, meet talking birds and
parrots, turn around and am almost struck
by the sight of a huge mountain massif rising
on the other side of MonteCristo. I stop
briefly and enjoy the silence, the colours, the
scents of the flowers. Here the path is the
goal and the goal is the path. When I arrive
at the restaurant, I think that King Louis XVIII
, in whose time the famous novel by Alexandre
Dumas was set, would have enjoyed
dining here.
And when I talk about the restaurant, it is
different than you might think now.
Instead of a classic dining room, there is a
terrace with awnings and a fountain. Via a
small water bridge you reach a bamboo
house and if you want a great view of the
mountain landscape, why not make yourself
comfortable on the high platform. And then
there are the many small individual places in
the middle of greenery and flowers. The atmosphere
is so unique that we not only give
out a “ MUY BIEN GOLD TESTED” rating, but
we have even created a new award --único
en el mundo ---worldwide unique.
And now we still haven’t talked about the
food. Chef Andreas Dacke only serves what is
freshly harvested on MonteCristo and what
he gets at the market. Not a giant all-world
menu, but every week a small offer with
about 10 dishes - always a new experience.
I start the MUY BIEN meal with two soups
and already these have it in them. The
Mango-Carrot-Ginger Cream knows how to
inspire immediately and is still outdone by
a Zucchini Soup. Such a simple vegetable
and yet so much power in taste. The smoked
salmon as a side dish fits perfectly and we
learn from Andreas that they worked with
white wine, homemade broth, cream, herbs
and of course zucchini.
We continue with the wild boar goulash. I love
“Reinhauessen” and I really have to rein in myself
- the test day is still long and I’m on a diet
anyway...with exceptions of course :-)

Me detengo
Continuamos
con el gulasch de jabalí.
