On 13th January it was again time for our class to
go to the cinema with Ms. Mayr to see an English
film. We met at the Leo Cinema in Innsbruck at 7:15
pm, bought the tickets and then we took seats in the
cinema auditorium, and everybody was wondering
how the film, by the famous film director Stephen
Fears, will be. Then it started...
The film is set in the small village Ewedown, England
where the leading character Tamara Drewe, who is
a handsome journalist, returns back home, because
her mother died and she wants to sell her inherited
house. Locals are amazed by the improvement of her
appearance, especially her “new nose” which is actually
just smaller!
When she arrives, a lot of trouble, confusion, fun
and love enter the village. Especially the young man
Andy, with whom she had a teenage affair, and the
old writer Nicolas are interested in her. Andy helps
her to renovate her house.
She finishes the relationship with the boy-band
drummer Ben and his dog Boss because the two town
girls Jody and Casey ruined it. She is not long alone
and frustrated because soon the secret sexual affair
with Nicolas begins. Nicolas has a wife who runs the
holiday farm for writers; she is a workaholic and sad
because she thinks that her man cheats on her, but

there is a writer who makes her feel good and whom
she gives inspiration.
Once again the two girls are the cause of troubles.
Because of them everybody in the town learns about
the affair of Tam and Nick.
At the end Nick is killed in an accident and Tam starts
a relationship with Andy.
Everybody in our class thought that this was a very
funny, romantic and also a bit confusing film, and
we liked it. We were delighted about this film. It was
easy to understand, had a lot of humour and was never
boring.
Thank you Ms. Mayr for choosing this good film.
