Antonio Fourie (43)<br />
Toni was appointed executive director of ABIL and <strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong><br />
Limited on 2 October 2003 to head the new innovation centre for<br />
ABIL. Toni was previously CEO of Connection Group Holdings<br />
Limited with Incredible Connection and Enterprise Connection in<br />
its stable.<br />
Toni’s extensive experience over 20 years includes senior positions<br />
in a number of South Africa’s major retailers, and more recently<br />
Makro, Dion and Massdiscounters within the Massmart Group,<br />
and Connection Group Holdings.<br />
David Braidwood Gibbon (61)<br />
David recently retired from Deloitte & Touche as national lead<br />
partner – Securitisation and Debt Origination Services where after<br />
he joined the ABIL Group as non-executive director during June<br />
2003. David is also chairman of the Group Audit Committee.<br />
Bahle Dawn Goba (41)<br />
Bahle joined the ABIL Group as a non-executive director during<br />
June 2003. She is a member of the Group Remuneration and<br />
Transformation Committee as well as the Directors’ Affairs<br />
Committee.<br />
Bahle is currently the marketing director for Nokusa Consulting of<br />
which she is a founding member. Nokusa is a black-owned and<br />
black-run consulting firm founded in 1999. She also serves on the<br />
Wits Technikon Council and is a member of the Black<br />
Management Forum.<br />
Angus George Herselman (53)<br />
Angus joined the ABIL Group during June 2003 as executive<br />
director for ABIL and <strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> Limited. Angus, formerly a<br />
director of Alternative Finance Limited, was executive responsible<br />
for loans processing, collections, IT and credit during the<br />
integration of the four operating entities which now form <strong>African</strong><br />
<strong>Bank</strong>, namely Altfin, Kingfin, Unity and <strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong>.<br />
Angus in his current position as MD: Collections is responsible for<br />
collecting of payroll and debit order based products as well as the<br />
Saambou Business Unit responsible for collections of the<br />
Saambou Book.<br />
Ramani Naidoo (41)<br />
Ramani recently left Gensec <strong>Bank</strong>, where she was senior manager<br />
in charge of Private Equity, to join Phillip Armstrong at Edward<br />
Nathan & Friedland Corporate Governance as executive director.<br />
She simultaneously joined <strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> Investments Limited and<br />
<strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> Limited as non-executive director. Ramani is the chair<br />
of the Directors’ Affairs Committee and is a member of the Group<br />
Risk Committee.<br />
She is the author of the book: “Corporate Governance: An<br />
essential guide for South <strong>African</strong> Companies” and serves on the<br />
boards of various other South <strong>African</strong> companies the likes of<br />
SARHWU Investment Holdings Limited and Stellenbosch<br />
Vineyards Limited.<br />
Thamsanqa Mthunzi Sokutu (40)<br />
Tami was appointed chief operating officer and executive director<br />
of <strong>African</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> Limited during September 2002. He joined the<br />
ABIL board as executive director during May 2003.<br />
Tami currently serves as MD: Retail Lending within ABIL’s business<br />
structure. Tami also serves as an executive director on the board<br />
of The Standard General Insurance Company, a 100% owned<br />
subsidiary of ABIL.<br />
Tami, who possesses an MSc qualification from the University of<br />
Cape Town and a certificate in Senior Executive Management<br />
from Harvard and Wits Universities, occupied the position of<br />
director-general in the national Department of Public Works since<br />
1999.<br />
Brian Paxton Furbank Steele (60)<br />
Brian retired as chief group financial manager of Barloworld<br />
during 2002. He joined the ABIL Group as non-executive director<br />
during May 2003 where he serves as a member of the Group Audit<br />
Committee and Group Risk Committee as well as the Directors’<br />
Affairs Committee.<br />
Günter Zeno Steffens (66)<br />
Gunter, German by birth, recently retired as group representative:<br />
Dresdner <strong>Bank</strong> AG and joined the ABIL Group as non-executive<br />
director during June 2003. Gunter chairs the Group Risk<br />
Committee and serves as a member of the Directors’ Affairs<br />
Committee.<br />
Ashley (Oshy) Tugendhaft (55)<br />
Oshy, currently chairman of Moss Morris Inc, joined the ABIL<br />
Group during May 2003. Oshy also serves as a member of the<br />
Group Risk Committee and the Directors’ Affairs Committee of<br />
ABIL.<br />
Oshy is the co-author of “Exchange Control Encyclopaedia”<br />
which is the leading publication in South Africa on exchange<br />
control. He also co-published a leading South <strong>African</strong> publication,<br />
containing precedents of leases, used by other legal practitioners.<br />
Oshy has extensive knowledge and experience in commercial<br />
litigation and arbitrations, both local and international.<br />
