The JAPIO database provides the most comprehensive access <strong>to</strong> Japanese unexamined patent applications (JP-A).<br />

added. These do not have abstracts and some even miss an English title.<br />

JAPIO does not contain records on publications relating <strong>to</strong> PCT applications entering the national phase (JP-T),<br />

published applications after examination (JP-B), or granted patents (JP-B1, JP-B2).<br />

10.4 Dynamics<br />

The JAPIO database follows the static principle, documents once entered are not updated. The database only<br />

contains publications of unexamined applications.<br />

10.5 Updating<br />

Publications appear in JAPIO approx. 3 <strong>to</strong> 6 months after the date of publication.<br />
