a. Hand water individual herb beds in Miksch garden.<br />

B. Triebel Garden<br />

1. Fertilizing<br />

a. Apply wood ashes from dye pot fires on gardens.<br />

b. Add manure, compost, and other organic mulches<br />

to garden.<br />

2. Mulching<br />

a. Mulch between rows and around vegetables,<br />

flowers, and herbs to control weeds: use straw,<br />

leaf mold, or other suitable organic material.<br />

b. Mulch melons with a thick blanket<br />

or leaves.<br />

a. Stake peppers where required with<br />

bamboo cuttings, or tree twigs.<br />

4. Irrigating<br />

a. Water large vegetable plots with sprinklers<br />

or in the afternoon when Old Salem closes for<br />

the day. Make sure all hoses and sprinklers<br />

are rolled up and well hidden from sight during<br />
