ISL222 TEXTUAL STUDIES OF THE HADITH<br />

Lessons<br />

The following lessons are derivable from <strong>the</strong> hadith:<br />

1. Purity is regarded as a major part <strong>of</strong> faith.<br />

2. Praise <strong>of</strong> Allah form an important act in Muslim life.<br />

3. Observing prayer in its proper form is light.<br />

4. Charity is an illumination.<br />

5. The Holy Qur’an will be an argument for one or against one.<br />

4.0 CONCLUSION<br />

To belief in Allah and remain committed to that belief is a hallmark <strong>of</strong><br />

who a Muslim should be. With this belief as <strong>the</strong> foundation,<br />

commandments <strong>of</strong> Allah on what is allowed and what is forbidden<br />

become <strong>the</strong> ultimate duties <strong>of</strong> a Muslim. Therefore, strict adherence to<br />

<strong>the</strong> six articles <strong>of</strong> faith, <strong>the</strong> five fundamental pillars and good deeds, now<br />

become <strong>the</strong> practical manifestation <strong>of</strong> that belief. Fur<strong>the</strong>r to <strong>the</strong>se are <strong>the</strong><br />

Islamic teachings on purification, supplication, charity, endurance and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Quran. All <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se are also parts and parcel <strong>of</strong> Ibadah.<br />

5.0 SUMMARY<br />

• <strong>Hadith</strong> 21 deals with <strong>the</strong> belief in God and keeping unto<strong>the</strong><br />

straight path.<br />

• <strong>Hadith</strong> 22 discusses some fundamental aspects <strong>of</strong> Islam like salat<br />

and fasting in <strong>the</strong> month <strong>of</strong> Ramadan.<br />

• Strictly keeping to Islamic fundamentals is enough to guarantee<br />

acceptance into paradise.<br />

• <strong>Hadith</strong> 23 talks about <strong>the</strong> significance <strong>of</strong> purification,<br />

simplifications, prayer, alms-giving, endurance and <strong>the</strong> Glorious<br />

Qur’an.<br />

6.0 TUTOR-MARKED ASSIGNMENT<br />

<strong>Hadith</strong> 21 emphasises <strong>the</strong> significance <strong>of</strong> belief in Allah.<br />
