ANSWER:<br />
I am informed that:<br />
(c) whose employment ceased as a result <strong>of</strong> a voluntary separation or resignation.<br />
(2) What is the total gross cost <strong>of</strong> all payments made to these staff as a result <strong>of</strong> these redundancies,<br />
terminations and separations, between 2 December 2010 and 2 March 2011 inclusive.<br />

The member has not made clear the time period he is referencing. However, I can inform him since 1 July<br />
2010 to 2 March 2011 there have been 213 voluntary separations and 0 redundancies and terminations.<br />
(2) The total gross costs <strong>of</strong> all payments made to staff as a result <strong>of</strong> voluntary cessation <strong>of</strong> employment was<br />
$55 474 for the period.<br />
Environment and climate change: Department <strong>of</strong> Sustainability and Environment — staff<br />
116. MR PAKULA — To ask the Minister for Health (for the Minister for Environment and Climate<br />
Change):<br />
ANSWER:<br />
I am informed that:<br />
(1) What is the total number <strong>of</strong> executive and non-executive staff employed by the Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Sustainability and Environment who were either —<br />
(a) made redundant (whether voluntarily or involuntarily);<br />
(b) had employment terminated by the department; or<br />
(c) whose employment ceased as a result <strong>of</strong> a voluntary separation or resignation.<br />
(2) What is the total gross cost <strong>of</strong> all payments made to these staff as a result <strong>of</strong> these redundancies,<br />
terminations and separations, between 2 December 2010 and 2 March 2011 inclusive.<br />
(1) 176 employees separated from the Department <strong>of</strong> Sustainability and Environment between 2 December 2010<br />
and 2 March 2011. These separations include:<br />
(a) 3 employees who, as a result <strong>of</strong> internal restructures, accepted separation packages;<br />
(b) 1 employee who was terminated by the department as a result <strong>of</strong> a serious disciplinary matter, and<br />
74 who did not have their fixed-term employment renewed for operational reasons;<br />
(c) 98 employees whose employment ceased as a result <strong>of</strong> retirements, transfer to other departments and<br />
resignations.<br />
(2) The total cost gross <strong>of</strong> all exit payments made to these staff, such as for long service leave and other accrued<br />
entitlements was $802 536.41.<br />
Environment and climate change: Ballarat green waste — power generation<br />
179. MS PULFORD — To ask the Minister for Health (for the Minister for Environment and Climate<br />
Change): In relation to investigating the generation <strong>of</strong> power from Ballarat’s green waste:<br />
(1) Has the minister sought, and received, advice from the Department <strong>of</strong> Sustainability and<br />
Environment on conducting an investigation; if so, did that advice recommend a time line for<br />
conduct <strong>of</strong> study, what date was recommended and did the minister accept the recommendation.
