Van Tassel died in Santa Ana, California,<br />

on February 9, 1978. Since then, some channelers<br />

have reported messages from him. “I<br />

was immediately taken into fellowship with<br />

the Great Masters of the Council of which I<br />

wrote,” he told one (Tuella, 1989).<br />

Jennings Frederick, a young West Virginia<br />

man, claimed that while bow-and-arrow<br />

hunting one afternoon in July 1968, he heard<br />

a “high-pitched jabbering, much like that of a<br />

recording running at exaggerated speed.”<br />

Even so, he could understand it, and it was<br />

communicating to him that he should not be<br />

afraid. “I come as a friend,” the voice said.<br />

“We know of you all. I come in peace. I wish<br />

medical assistance. I need your help.” Then<br />

Frederick saw the creature whom wags would<br />

soon dub Vegetable Man.<br />

The being had semi-human facial features.<br />

Its ears were long, its eyes yellow and slanted,<br />

and it had very thin arms about the size of a<br />

quarter in diameter. It had three seven-inchlong<br />

fingers at the end of each arm. Instead of
