No Doubt the council was abundantly supplied with good<br />

things to eat and drink, and the result <strong>of</strong> the deliberations was<br />

a dismissal.<br />

As already noted, Mr. March had built a costly house on<br />

land bought <strong>of</strong> Nathaniel Weed in 1728, perhaps expecting to<br />

spend his days in town, as Mr. Wells had done. He, however,<br />

removed to Newbury soon after his dismission, and in 1746<br />

sold his farm <strong>of</strong> thirty and one-half acres to Isaac <strong>Merrill</strong>, Esq.,<br />

for ^950 in bills <strong>of</strong> credit, old tenor. The cottage house <strong>of</strong><br />

Lewis B. Davis now stands on the spot where Mr. March built<br />

his nice house.
