A new meeting-house was built this year at Rocky Hill in<br />

Salisbury, which is yet in a good state <strong>of</strong> preservation, as will<br />

be seen by the engraving. At present there are few belonging<br />

to the society, and meetings are only held during warm weather.<br />

ROCKY HILL MEETING-HOUSE.<br />

1786.<br />

Rev. Thomas Hibbert's proposition for the abatement <strong>of</strong> his<br />

taxes came up at an adjournment <strong>of</strong> the annual meeting, and<br />

it was very emphatically settled as follows :<br />

" Voted that we will not take <strong>of</strong>f any Rates that are against<br />

him said Hibbard or shall be made for the time to come."<br />

Mr. Hibbert's society again petitioned the General Court for an<br />

act <strong>of</strong> incorporation as a Presbyterian society, and met with the<br />

same determined opposition from the town as in 1 784. A<br />

committee was chosen consisting <strong>of</strong> Capt. John Barnard, En-<br />

sign Simeon Bartlett, Lieut. Willis Patten, Capt. William Bayley<br />

and Capt. Robert Rogers to consider the matter and make
