Nov. i st. The house <strong>of</strong> Andrew Brown caught fire and was<br />

entirely consumed. This was an ancient house and for many<br />

years known as the "Joseph Hoyt" house, he owning and occu-<br />

pying it.<br />

1880.<br />

Capt. Joseph W. Sargent died January 3d. When the call<br />

came for volunteers to put down the rebellion which had commenced<br />

at the South, he at once <strong>of</strong>fered his services to his<br />

country, and was chosen captain <strong>of</strong> the company <strong>org</strong>anized at
